Approximately 2% of the population has symptoms compatible with the disease. It is found in females 8 times more than males. It can be found at any age. It is more common in middle-aged aged between 35-60 years. The severity of the disease is different in each individual. For example, the pain ranges from mild pain and can lead a normal life to severe pain, in some cases it is like a muscle pain in the whole body and impairs quality of life. The number and severity of joint symptoms in each individual patient vary.
